In July 2024, the Minnesota Department of Health in partnership with an interdisciplinary team of 15 passionate community leaders created Minnesota's first Safe Sleep Coalition that aims to elevate community voices and implement culturally appropriate community-driven solutions to eliminate sudden and unexpected infant deaths (SUID) in Minnesota’s American Indian and Black/African populations by 2033 (zero deaths!).
We are now just a few weeks away from our first community event, which is an Infant Safe Sleep Community Kick-off event to celebrate the beginning of a series of community conversations in the Black/African American and Native American communities focused on co-creating culturally appropriate solutions to battle SUIDs. We would so much appreciate it if you attended and shared the event details with the BECC policy group and larger BECC community. What: Infant Safe Sleep Community Kick-Off When: April 9th; 1:30-3:30pm Where: Fairview Community Wellness Hub ( 45 W 10th Street, St. Paul, MN 55102) Registration Link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSedyFls6KtWTCRUuM-X1gLGwOoppROyL2u0xqFt5grWPbkolg/viewform
