Scholarship Announcement
 






Women Leading in Technology (WLiT), in partnership with the Minnesota Technology Association (MnTech), just went live with our annual WLiT scholarship application. We plan to award TWO (2) $2500 scholarships by early March.
 
Scholarship Criteria: Must be attending a Minnesota university, college, or vocational-technical college. Applicants must identify as women, trans women, genderqueer, or nonbinary.
Deadline to Apply: Thursday, February 20th, by 3AM CST

A Creative Look at Self-Care
Gain a clearer understanding of the stress response and the long-term implications for health at this noon-hour workshop. Participants will look at self-care as a process with time, experience, and reflection as their teacher. Instructor, Christine Schwebel will guide you to listen to what is deep inside you, and to engage in self-care practices resulting in a life with more confidence, energy, health, and joy.   One CEU is available.


Participants will expect to:
·        review and expand wellness care tools for mind, body, and spirit
·        design a personal plan for resiliency and self-care
·        leave feeling grounded and refreshed


Christine Schwebel, a Professional Certified Coach www.Tsoulnami.com, has been serving people for 20 years as they transition in life, into new jobs, new experiences, new relationships, new ways of being in the world, and most importantly, bringing them home to create an intentional and nurturing relationship with themselves-- the starting point for a life well-lived.

Psychological First Aid  
Psychological First Aid (PFA) is an evidence-informed 2-hour virtual training for all community members and professionals. Trainees will learn how to support healthy recovery in individuals following a traumatic event, public health emergency, natural disaster, or personal crisis. The curriculum integrates public health, community health and individual psychology by drawing upon skills the trainees already have. The goal of PFA is to teach trainees how to reduce distress and negative health behaviors by providing practical help and promote resilience.


CEU’s are available.


Participants will learn:
·        The impact traumatic experiences can have on individuals, and how burnout may impact frontline staff and first responders.
·        The five pillars of the PFA framework and how to apply them to support someone who has experienced a traumatic event.
·        How to recognize when an individual should be referred to a mental health professional.
 
Who should attend? 
Anyone can attend! This training is for community members or professionals, including community volunteers, frontline staff, nonprofit workers, direct service staff, community health workers and other professionals.
